Vanessa Roggeman

Vanessa Roggeman brings more than twenty five years of experience in business development and marketing, grounded in the realities of small business ownership.


She launched her first business at the age of eighteen and has worked internationally in business to business environments and with small and medium sized organizations.


Her professional focus has always been on helping businesses build strong foundations, clear positioning, and practical marketing systems that support long term growth.


Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys hiking, yoga, foraging, exploring the mushroom kingdom, and spending time with friends. These interests reflect her appreciation for balance, curiosity, and connection, which also shape how she works with clients.


Through Smart Local Marketing, she is dedicated to helping businesses navigate modern digital and AI-driven marketing with clarity and confidence.

Co-Founder

Pete Roggeman

Pete Roggeman is a senior marketing and media leader with more than twenty-five years of experience in brand strategy, digital marketing, content development, and partnership marketing across global and regional markets.


His career includes leadership roles with internationally recognized brands such as Rocky Mountain Bicycles and Ritchey International, where he directed global marketing, including strategy, branding, digital, media, product launches and sport marketing across Europe, North America, and international distributor networks.


Pete has also held partnership and client service roles in professional sports, including stints with Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Vancouver Canucks, supporting major sponsorship portfolios and blue-chip corporate partners.


In parallel, he is the Publisher and Editor of NSMB.com, one of the world’s leading mountain bike media platforms, where he has spent more than two decades fostering a reputation for editorial excellence within the industry as well as with its highly engaged audience.


Pete brings a principled approach to marketing, grounded in performance, accountability, insight, and long-term brand value.


Outside of work, he enjoys mountain biking, golf, skiing, reading, and chasing his dog around the trails close to home.

Patricia Barnes

Patricia shapes the stories and client experiences that bring SmartLocal’s work to life across both print and digital platforms. With a background in managing the editorial flow of multiple community publications, she collaborates closely with designers, photographers, writers, and clients to ensure every project is thoughtful, cohesive, and meaningful.


Her work is rooted in ethical storytelling and clear, authentic communication. Patricia has a natural ability to translate a client’s vision into content that connects with audiences while guiding projects smoothly from concept through to completion. From content planning and coordination to ongoing client care, she plays a central role in how SmartLocal delivers a seamless and relationship driven experience.
